From the management agency that brought you acts such as Frank Skinner, Russell Howard and Al Murray, Avalon Promotions presents a run of Edinburgh Previews from some of the hottest talent heading to the Edinburgh Fringe this year. Each night will feature two acts trying out some brand new ideas before taking their shows up to the festival in August.

5th July

Pierre Novellie

Pierre Novellie is one of the best up-and-coming comedians in the United Kingdom.

Pierre is a regular correspondent in BBC2’s The Mash Report hosted by Nish Kumar and performed on the most recent series of Stand Up Centralon Comedy Central. An acclaimed live act, Pierre has supported Hal Cruttenden and Gary Delaney on their national tours and was nominated for Best Club Comic at the 2017 Chortle Awards for two years running. His previous Edinburgh shows have been well received by both audience and critics alike, with his latest show being announced as the seventh best reviewed comedy show across the entire Edinburgh Festival in 2017, and receiving five-star reviews from The Metro and EdFestMag, and four-star reviews from The Scotsman.

Matt Winning

Recently seen on Dave’s Unspun with Matt Forde as environmental correspondent, comedian Matt Winning is one of the most exciting, unique and imaginative new stand-up and character comedians in the UK. The Scottish comic’s eccentric and idiosyncratic act is a whirlwind of ideas, combining an original approach to one-liners, acute observations and shouting loudly.

2017 saw Matt received huge critical success with a completely sold out run of his 3rd Edinburgh hour, the “funny yet educational” show Filibuster. This high-concept show is built as a lecture on climate change, a subject Matt knows well as he also happens to be an environmental economist (and a genuine Doctor!).

 

12th July

Glenn Moore

Glenn Moore is a critically-acclaimed and prolific stand-up, writer, and sketch comedian.

His first stand-up show, Glengarry Glen Glenn was one of 2016’s best-reviewed debut shows of the Edinburgh Fringe, and was nominated for ‘Best Debut Show’ at Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival. Known for his distinctive and inventive jokes, Glenn has supported Tiff Stevenson, Josie Long and Alun Cochrane on tour, and in September 2017 made his Mock The Week debut for the BBC.

 

Ahir Shah

Edinburgh Comedy Award ‘Best Show’ 2017 nominee, Ahir Shah is one of the fastest-rising comedians of his generation. Shah’s sharp, intellectual brand of stand-up features a blend of philosophical inquiry, political vigour, and sweet gags. An internationally-acclaimed performed being invited to perform at the Adelaide Fringe as well as the Montreal Just For Laughs festival in Canada, and recently completing an tour in India.

 

19th July

Flo & Joan

Stars of the recent Nationwide TV adverts, Flo & Joan are the British musical comedy duo, and sisters, Nicola and Rosie Dempsey. The paino/percussion pair have headlined and played to sold-out audiences across North America and the UK and they have won awards and selections including Chortle’s Best Music and Variety Act 2018, Leicester Comedy Festival’s Best Musical Act 2018, Montreal Sketchfest Best of the Fest Selection 2017 and Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival’s Now Magazine Audience Choice Award and Best of the Fest Selection 2017. They had a viral hit with their 2016 Song, which to date has received 47 million views across social media. 

 

Naz Osmanoglu

Regularly a face on our screens, Naz has appeared on Live at the Electric(BBC Three), Russell Howard’s Good News (BBC3) and Horrible Histories(CBBC) as a core cast member in the 7th series. He’s also acted in Drunk History (Comedy Central), Plebs (ITV2) and Bull (UKTV Gold). In 2016 Naz wrote and starred in the 4-part series Flat TV alongside Tom Rosenthal which aired on both BBC3 and BBC2.

Most recently, Naz has performed in the highly-praised Inside Number 9(BBC2), Channel 4’s Back, Comedy Central’s Absolutely Fine and Trauma for ITV.

Naz was also a member of acclaimed sketch trio WitTank with whom he regularly performed on Live at the Electric (BBC3) and Sketchorama (Radio 4). WitTank are well-known Edinburgh Fringe veterans with 10 shows under their belt.
