4 April
Brian Aldred:  Underground London - Part One

As you place your foot on a paving stone in London, you are literally walking above hundreds of miles of tunnels, passageways, service ducts, sewage pipes, chambers, secret places and spaces that most people have absolutely no idea are there.
We will discover wartime shelters, tunnels under the River Thames, the Post Office Railway and many utility services that makes London work and they are not even on Google Maps. See and hear what goes on right under your feet all in 50 minutes.

2 May
Mary Forlenza: Women

I think you will agree that women have come a long way in the last 150 years or so, but there is still a way to go.  Some of my subjects you will know but with others you will be less familiar, and so I want to fill in the detail.  Some have done great things others smaller.  With this in mind it is my hope that the women I have chosen for my presentation will not only be interesting to you, but they will inspire you all to be as great as you can:  just the smallest act can make such a difference.

6 June
Neil Sadler: A Policeman’s Lot Can Be Quite An Interesting One

Neil joined the Sussex Police in 1978, after two years teaching on the Isle of Man.

Starting as a constable in Bognor Regis, he progressed through the ranks on uniform patrol duties across Sussex. Neil’s final posting was in national and international police training working briefly in Hong Kong, Abu Dhabi and Trinidad… with the odd exotic spell in Horsham, Haywards Heath and Crawley !

He retired from the police in 2008, the same year his younger daughter joined and inherited his warrant number of... 006...Yes, seriously!

4 July

5 September
Malcolm Eynon: Wizard of Oz and COS

Peter Smith: The Secret Life of Moths

Everyone knows moths are dull, slightly creepy creatures that only fly at night. Absolutely not! Our moths come in a bewildering array of shapes, sizes and colours – and there are more day flying moths than there are butterflies.

Do you know your Eggars from your Emeralds? Your Ermines from your Emperors? Do you know which moth stopped the EUFA final in 2016? Which local moth can be used to produce silk?

Come and find the answers to all these and more with Peter Smith, a local moth recorder who has identified over 400 different species in his back garden.
